Of the hundreds of comic book heroes and villains I've created over the years, Hornet was the first. She played in the first Champions game I ever ran, and later she was the gamemaster's non-player-character in the very first superhero campaign I ever ran.

That campaign was continualy brought back and revised, culminating in what Mike o'Connell calls "the greatest comic book never published" - Forte.

Early in those decades I had quite using a GM-NPC, since the heroes were getting into trouble just fine on their own. I had hinted that there was a dark side to my comic book world, where people with mental abilities were hunted down and quietly disappeared. I decided to make Hornet my crusader against CHESS, and from there it snowballed.

I had always envisioned one last, huge story, and had actually begun to lay the groundwork in Forte when that game sadly ended. So, I present to you... the Last Hornet Story.
