My world has two such teams.

One is Forte, Seattle's superteam supreme.

The other is the Justice Squadron, a team composed of the heroes of individual cities who have banded together to face the foes and situations that would overwhelm any single hero. Rare is the crisis that requires the attention of the entire team, but the Squadron can and does mobilize when needed - and woe to that villain who believes that he can challenge the full might of the Justice Squadron.

The Squadron's membership does occasionally fluxuate, but currently the team includes: Captain Thunder, America's Mightiest Man, from the greater New York region; El Sonido, the Sonic Sensation from Miami; Silvershadow, who patrols the dark streets of Philadelphia; Black Cougar, the stalker of shadows in New York City; Minute Man, Boston's time-manipulating hero; Wrangler, Oklahoma's Cosmic Cowboy; Celerity, the Fastest Woman Alive, from Central City, Missouri; Sorcier de Lumiere, Montreal's mage; and Dragonfire, protector of Chicago's Chinatown. Hornet is not officially a field member, but is the team's trainer and combat instructor.

Members routinely live and operate in their own cities, but the team does maintain an elaborate base hidden deep in New York's Catskill Mountains.
