Hello! Welcome to the twelfth exciting installment of Son of Thunder! Spring is sprung, the grass is riz; I wonder where the birdies is? Actually, the grass is still just sitting there all brown and the birdies are nowhere to be found, yet, but that's par for the course. March is always cold, and we even get a little snow (which melts right away), but the temperatures are rising into the fifties during the day. And opening day of the baseball season is only a few weeks away! The Cubs are probably going to come in no higher than third this year; I can only hope that those furslugginer White Sox down the road do just as poorly or I'm going to have to listen to Maggie's nephews all season. It's getting to be a fairly busy couple of weeks, what with a play this Saturday, Toastmasters speech contests the following Tuesday and Wednesday, Riverdance the week after and flying to California for Easter the day after that. Just happened that everything comes in droves, I guess. Maggie and I are going out to my family's for Easter, Here's hoping you and yours enjoy a Happy Easter, Happy Passover, or just plain Happy Spring! On to the Times! Things are a little calmer on the Americana front this time, with four new adventures! Americana goes to confront the Ex-Patriot to find answers - but finds she must deal with "The Reckoning". Afterward, right afterward, in fact, Americana orders strawberry pancakes and has "Breakfast at Stephanie's"! What's up with the soap opera that is Americana's life? It's almost like "General Hospital"! Well, we can't put up with much more of that soap opera stuff. We need a good old-fashioned slobbernokker! And we got it right here! Americana goes toe to toe with a "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot!" Hoo hah! Oh, and there's artwork aplenty in the Americana Art Gallery. Would you believe 265 pictures? Holy cow! New art in the following files - Americana's Art Gallery #12 and Americana's Art Gallery #13 and Americana's Art Gallery #14! Aw, heck, I got some extra time and rather than make you wait a couple of months, I present two more bonus Americana stories! (Not to mention even more artwork in Gallery 14!) First up is another of those quiet moments type of stories - at least, until the "Strange Visitor" shows up! No, this isn't "slow stories central". It's another wham-bam-'scuze-me-ma'am old-fashioned pounding - but it's Americana who's on the receiving end! Can she overcome an opponent whose power keeps growing? Find out in "Showdown of Steel"! Uh, would you believe I finished up one more under the wire? I include it here because our deadline is close to Opening Day of baseball season, and what's more all-American than baseball? Huh? So I include the latest baseball-themed Americana story (to go with the new baseball-themed artwork) called "Fielder's Choice". I really like this one... hope you do too. Play ball! and let's go Cubbies!! And a very happy Easter to all! K.C.
